Tragic Nightclub Fire in North Macedonia Claims 51 Lives; Over 100 Injured

Kocani, North Macedonia - The early morning hours of March 16, 2025, brought disastrous scenes of the Pulse nightclub razed to the ground in Kocani, with the fire causing the horrific deaths of at least 51 persons and injuries to another over 100.

The tragedy would have begun at about 2:35 a.m. when the local hip-hop duo DNK was performing live. Eyewitnesses recounted how the pyrotechnics used during the show ignited the low-burning combustible ceiling, causing a very fast spreading fire that drew a lot of smoke into an already cramped and panic-stricken crowd of almost 1500 people.

Emergency Response

The emergency crews were on the ground for rescue while injured victims were being ferried to hospitals in Kocani, Skopje, and Stip. Minister for health, Arben Taravari, said that 118 patients were taken to the hospital, most of them suffering from very serious burn injuries.
