Members of DOGE are now licensed to study major payment and contracting systems at CMS, the administration that provides health insurance coverage to more than 140 million Americans. This initiative aligns with President Donald Trump's broader strategy to identify and reduce government inefficiencies. Senior CMS staff are overseeing the partnership to ensure necessary system-level access, at present with DOGE permissions limited to reading-only permission so as to not change anything. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has declared himself the acting administrator of USAID, further intensifying the situation.
